The world is marked by a strong and creative tension. It is a tension between what is global and what is local. The global face is powerful and seeking to be more so. But a tide is rising, steadily reinforcing the local resulting in an increasing ‘Glocalisation’ as the global and local converge.
Using the innovative Gaia Education SDG cards that consider each of the 17 goals in social, economic, ecological and worldview aspects we can learn how to initiate powerful discussion from diverse perspectives.
This workshop will teach participants how to navigate between the two spheres in language, ethics and implementation. It will support participants to decode relevant UN conventions into meaningful frameworks for transformative action at the local level. The course will offer a detailed description of how to prepare, promote and facilitate a SDG Training of Multipliers using Gaia Education’s SDG Implementation Flashcards. Participants will also receive the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Multipliers Handbook to support them in offering SDG courses in their localities.
To initiate community-focused conversations about local SDGs implementation and support people to become multipliers of such conversations.
be able to take a multi-dimensional perspective on all 17 SDGs and be aware of the 169 targets for implementation
identify with other participants which goals could be considered priorities in your community
brainstorm and prioritise possible multi-stakeholder community projects aimed at implementation of priority SDGs in your local community
facilitate conventions from concept to transformative action - brainstorm ideas and strategies for how to mobilise support, how to demonstrate feasibility by implementing successful projects, and how to best spread initiatives that work throughout your community and beyond
