A NEW LEADERSHIP PARADIGM
“We believe that transforming our underlying worldviews and values are paramount in the global shift from systemic greed and competition, to systems of participation that promote individual flourishing, the common good, and fore-mostly recognise our interdependence with the natural world”.
We are facing a global climate and environmental crisis. The region of SE Asia is particularly vulnerable to the major climactic shifts, loss of vital natural resources, climate refugees, and cultural degradation, all inherent results of our dominant global economic system.
We urgently need a new leadership among our future generations to take a stand against the destructive economic and social systems that are killing our communities and the planet. Transforming our underlying worldviews and values are paramount in the shift from systemic greed and competition, to systems of participation that promote individual flourishing, the common good, and recognise our interdependence with the natural world.
This is a five months comprehensive residential programme designed for people working in the field of sustainable changes at various levels, especially those organizing sustainable community initiatives. The programme will help participants understand how a decision made somewhere far away can have tremendous effects on their locality and how important their local initiatives are in terms of showing the world that a sustainable way of community life is possible and desirable.
We also make sure that a change maker, an activist, a community organizer knows how to sustain herself or himself personally and as a community so that they don’t get burnt out and despair in the middle of the multiple crises our planet is facing. This means mindfulness, yoga, prayer and other spiritual practices are an integral part of the whole programme.
With awakened awareness of the root causes of the challenges we face, our participants are able to foster a deep commitment to working towards a sustainable and regenerative world that supports and values all life.
With decades of experiences in Southeast Asia organizing Grassroots Leadership Trainings, Young Bodhisattva Trainings and Ecovillage Design Education (EDE), this programme has been developed by drawing on best practices and experiences in empowering and transformative education. The programme is a joint initiative by International Network of Engaged Buddhists, Ecovillage Transition Asia , and Spirit in Education Movement.
